His Sunshine Over Us: Powerful Truth from Isaiah 60:2
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

Have you ever felt like there was a raincloud over you?
No, not a literal raincloud, but a big, heavy, fat, grey, metaphorical raincloud? One that taints your experiences with gloom and despair? This imagery is used everywhere from children’s cartoons to everyday conversations, but if you are in Christ, I have a new narrative to speak over you—a powerful truth for you to hold fast to that proclaims the reality you walk in today:
See, darkness covers the earth
and thick darkness is over the peoples,
but the Lord rises upon you
and his glory appears over you. Isaiah 60:2 NIV
His glory appears over you. There is perpetual sunshine available for the child of God. Now, this doesn’t mean that we will move through this side of eternity without passing through heartache or hardship, but it does mean that as we move through the barren, valley places of this world, that we are given the light of Jesus burning in our hearts and baring the good news to our souls…
There is an eternity underway which involves no more crying, no more tears, no more pain, and no more brokenness. This is the light of the Gospel, held out to us in the person of Jesus.
And this beautiful, steadfast hope covers us.
So, take heart my friend: wherever life finds you today, I want you to picture a little illustrated sunburst following you around, moving over you—a sunburst that represents God’s presence and power at work in your life, and his faithfulness to carry you home.
For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:6 NIV
